Plan View
Barriers measure 20’-0” long and 24” wide. They include a connector on each end, a keyway and a 2’-7” nominal drainage slot (placed at the center of the barrier). There are five #4 bars that run through the barrier. For details on proprietary MB-7D PC lengths, VDOT instructs that your refer to the manufacturer.

Barriers measure 2’-8” tall and include two #6 bars that run the length of the barrier. The #6 bars are set at an angle and protrude 1-3/4” out from the barrier. On the left side, the lower bar is set 4” from the ground line and the upper bar is set 6” from the top of the barrier. On the right side, the lower bar is set 2” from the ground line and the upper bar is set 8” from the top of the barrier.
End View
Barriers measure 24” wide at the bottom and 9” wide at the top. They have a 10” R. The break point is 10” from the ground line. The vertical revel is 4”. The height of the lower slope is 7” and the height of the upper slops is 32”. Barriers are symmetrical in nature.
Section A-A
Each barrier includes an 8” x 12” vertical panel on the top of the barrier (as required).
Flare Rates
Flare rates are as follows:
When using VDOT Standard MB-7D PC with the pin and loop positive connection, allow for a 6’-0” dynamic deflection. Provide a minimum of 60’ of barrier upstream and downstream of work zones for anchorage. For approved non-VDOT designs, refer to manufacturer’s installation instructions for deflection and anchorage.
