Nevada Temporary Traffic Screen “F” General Notes
The Nevada Department of Transportation’s general instructions are as follows:

Straight holes that are 1-1/2” in diameter may be used in lieu of the tapered holes.

Resin capsule-type anchorage devices may be substituted for threaded rods.

Place screen on the work area-side of temporary railing where traffic will only be on one side of the temporary railing. The screen may be placed on either side of the pipe support where traffic will be on both sides of the temporary railing.

Clinched 8d box nails may be substituted for screws. The nails should be clinched on the work area side of the screen where traffic will only be on one side of the temporary railing.

¼” U-bolts may be substituted for ¼” diameter bolts.

Openings in the screen area of three feet should be provided at 200-foot intervals.
Nevada Temporary Traffic Screen “F” Specifications
Nevada screens should conform to the following specifications, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation:
Elevation
Screens include partial rebar for screen to barrier connection. Approved reflectors must be used.
Screens include three 1” diameter steel pipe screen supports, which are spaced 4’-6” apart from each other and 1’-9” from each end of the barrier. Screens measure 2’ tall.
Section A-A
Screens are held up with 1” x 2’ – 11-1/2” steel pipe, schedule 20, and include two pipes per panel.
To connect the screen to the pipe, blocks are used that are made of 3/8” minimum thickness plywood or ½” thick oriented strand board. They are 1” x 6” rough with 1-1/4” long screws at 12” (max.) on their center.
Clinched 8d box nails may be substituted for screws. The nails should be clinched on the work area side of the screen where traffic will only be on one side of the temporary railing.
The maximum length for exposed screw threads is ½”. The screw should include a ¼” diameter bolt with a 2” washer and self-locking nut (four per panel). ¼” U-bolts may be substituted for ¼” diameter bolts.
Section B-B
Section B-B includes a 9/16” diameter hole in the plate, plus a ¼” plate bracket. There is a ¾” x 1’-2” hex head bolt with two plain and beveled ANSI washers and hex nut. There is also a 1” diameter hole in the temporary railing for a ¾” bolt. The maximum length for screw thread exposure is ½”.
Plan and Elevation Details
Anchor plates include 9/8” diameter holes for threaded rods. The plate measures 4” x 10” x ¼”. There is a 1” x 2” steel pipe (schedule 40) centered on the plate.
Anchor Plate Alternative A
Anchor plate A shows a drill and bond ½” diameter threaded rod with a nut and washer (two per anchor plate).
Anchor Plate Alternative B
Anchor plate B shows a ¼” diameter bolt with 2” washer and self-locking nut, plus a tapered hole that is 1-5/8” in diameter at the top and tapers to 1-3/8” diameter at the bottom (over the length of 1’).
