How To: Buying and Selling with Eiffel Trading

For contractors who are used to buying or selling at auction, the idea of engaging in direct sales may be daunting. But, as we’ve mentioned before, buying or selling directly has distinct advantages over handing the process over to an auctioneer.

Eiffel Trading is located in Houston, Texas, but we connect buyers and sellers across North America. Items listed for sale on our site are sorted by region, and can be bought and shipped outside of a seller’s state or region.

Our online marketplace allows buyers and sellers the opportunity to list, search for, and purchase used heavy equipment and materials 24/7/365.

Making an Offer

Once you find an item you are interested in, click the green “Make Offer” button. You will be asked at this time to sign in (if you haven’t already) or to create a free account. You will be presented with two options:

1. Schedule Inspection – We recommend this option for purchases over $50,000. This option connects you with the Seller to schedule an in-person inspection
2. Waive Inspection and Make Offer – Choosing this option means that you are satisfied with the information provided by the Seller, and would like to begin the purchasing process

Once you’ve officially made an offer, the following applies:

• The offer is presented to the Seller. Seller will have two (2) business day to accept, reject, or propose a counteroffer
• If the Seller accepts, you and the Seller have entered into a contract to purchase the item. No other offers will be accepted
• If the Seller proposes a counteroffer, you will have two (2) business days to accept, reject, or counter their offer

Freight & Logistics

If you’re looking to budget before making an official offer, simply click the blue “Request Freight Quote” button on the item page. We have a network of freight partners to assist in the relocation of items. Buyers are under no obligation to utilize our network. Freight quote requests can also be made by emailing sales@eiffeltrading.com or calling 1-800-541-7998. Requesting a freight quote does not obligate you to make an offer on the item.

Note that all items listed on our site are in the possession of the Seller. Eiffel Trading does not hold any physical inventory.

Selling with Eiffel Trading

Sellers on Eiffel Trading never pay a listing or commission fee. Your only responsibilities are pricing and listing the product, and ensuring it gets transported to the buyer. Your item does not leave your possession until the sale is complete.

Determining a Price

Finding an appropriate price for your listing is the most important part of the selling process. Here are some tips for determining a price that will move your product quickly:

1. Look at listings with a physical or operational condition similar to your item
2. For equipment listings, take into consideration the manufacturer, model, and any extra features that differentiate your item from the competition’s
3. Put yourself in the buyer’s shoes; what is the maximum price you’d pay for your item?

Listing an Item

Creating a listing on our marketplace is always free, and does not put you under any obligation with us. You retain all selling rights to your item(s). Sellers can remove listings any time they choose.

To list your item, start here. Keep the following in mind when preparing to creating your listing:

1. Take photos from every angle
2. Make note of flaws like scratches or dings; these affect the value of your item, so make your listing as accurate as possible to ensure your item is found buy the right buyer more quickly
3. Fill out the listing form in its entirety. We’ve carefully set up the form to answer many of the questions that buyers ask most frequently

Receiving Offers

Our experienced staff handles all communication with potential buyers until an inspection is requested or an offer is made. Let us answer questions from potential buyers for you, so you can continue focusing on more pressing matters.

When an offer comes in that meets your pricing criteria, you’ll be notified immediately. Sellers then have two (2) business days to accept, reject, or propose a counter offer. If you choose to counter the initial offer, the Buyer has two (2) business days to accept, reject, or counter.

Accepting an Offer

Once an offer has been accepted, you and the Buyer have entered into an agreement to complete the transaction. At this point, our staff can assist the Buyer with arranging transportation, or the Buyer can handle it on their own. Transportation costs and Eiffel Trading’s commission fees are all paid by the Buyer.
