Eiffel 101: Tips for Selling HDPE Pipe
HDPE pipe is resistant to corrosion, flexible, durable and has a lifespan of up to 100 years. For these reasons, HDPE pipe can be marketed and resold after use. When listing your used HDPE pipe for sale, it’s important to take quality photos of the pipe, to show photos of the pipe after it’s been uninstalled, to set the pipe at a fair market price, to be upfront about defects, and to include all relevant details.
1. Take Quality Photos in Good Light
When you take high quality photos of your HDPE pipes, potential buyers will get a better sense of what you’re offering and will therefore be more likely to act. Luckily, you don’t need expensive camera equipment to get the best shot. Good-quality daylight and a clean phone lens should be enough. Furthermore, you should aim to take multiple photos from different angles to ensure you’re showcasing your HDPE pipe in its entirety.
2. Take Photos of HDPE Pipe After Uninstalling
Buyers want to see exactly what they’re purchasing, and they might hesitate to go through will a sale if they can’t view the entire HDPE pipe. To help make your HDPE pipe more marketable, take photos of the HDPE pipe after uninstalling.
3. Set HDPE Pipes at a Fair Market Price
If your HDPE pipe isn’t selling, it might be because you’re failing to match the pipe’s current market price. Do some research on pipe prices and the going rate for similar HDPE pipes to ensure your setting a fair price. Keep in mind that pipes can be priced differently depending on location, meaning that your region will affect your price.
4. Be Upfront About Defects
The goal should never be to trick potential buyers into overlooking defects. Instead, be upfront an honest about any wear and tear or abnormalities in your pipe and price it accordingly.
5. Include All Relevant Details
Don’t wait for buyers to reach out to you for details on your pipe; make it easy for them to act quickly by including all the relevant information in your listing. This includes the pipe size, SDR, the total length available for sale, and the length each segment of pipe is cut into. It’s also helpful to include the pipe’s previous applications, especially if the pipe was used to transfer a liquid. For example, if your HDPE pipe was used to transfer water, be sure to mention that, since water is less harsh on the pipe and will make it easier to sell.
